Kawasaki Concours, 2008

 Kawasaki Concours, 2008

The Kawasaki Concours is a 1000 cc or 1400 cc sport touring motorcycle manufactured since 1985 by Kawasaki.

Kawasaki announced a new generation Concours In September 2006, know as the Concours 14 in the USA, or 1400GTR in other markets. Introduced in September 2007, the new bike is based on the ZX-14 platform with features similar to the original Concours – an inline-4 engine, luggage, shaft drive and a full fairing.

In addition to optional ABS, the new bike offers an electrically controlled screen, an innovative pass-key system, and a sophisticated rear suspension-drive system known as Tetralever – not unlike BMW's Paralever and Moto Guzzi's CARC rear suspensions – to handle the conflicting drive and suspension forces (known as shaft effect) typical when shaft-driven motorcycles carry powerful engines

Kawasaki ER-6 Spy Shot, 2006

Kawasaki ER-6 Spy Shot, 2006

650cc parallel twin engine and wavy front brake discs.

All-new parallel twin engine and has been design to give ‘the size and feel of a 400 with the power of a 650’. The engine has been made very small in order to allow the bike to have a short wheelbase to improve the handling while the exhaust under the engine lowers the centre of gravity. The shorter chassis of the Swingarm can be made longer which also helps to improve the handling.

The Essential Riding: the new ER-6n
For motorcyclists, whether new to two wheels or long-term riders, the essence of motorcycling, the freedom that riding on two wheels provides, is sometimes difficult to express.

With a reputation for innovative motorcycles delivering the performance sought by enthusiasts the world over, Kawasaki have now taken the refreshing and imaginative step of combining their engineering prowess and an awareness of contemporary design, with the introduction of the stunning all-new ER-6n.
Conceived at the exclusive Kawasaki design facility in Akashi, Japan, the ER-6n represents a bold new era for Kawasaki and fresh opportunities both for existing riders and those who have previously not considered the merits of motorcycling.

The machine for riders of all ages and abilities whether male or female, the core appeal of the ER-6n is that of a motorcycle at the very cutting edge of contemporary design, just as pleasing to look at as it is to ride.
Incorporating ergonomics perfectly suited to a variety of riders, the ER-6n makes optimum use of a compact two-cylinder engine to deliver a sleek chassis that is extremely manoeuvrable and fun-to-ride.

For new riders, the ER-6n experience will grow and mature along with theirs.
For existing riders, the machine will reawaken in them the very essence of the motorcycle riding sensation, providing a broad spread of useable engine power matched to a chassis that is outstanding in both visual and engineering terms.

The ER-6n represents a single-minded vision for the Kawasaki company, a vision born of a passionate commitment to offering the sheer enjoyment that motorcycling represents to the widest possible audience.
In an age where transport alternatives all shout for attention, the ER-6n evokes the elusive essence of Kawasaki’s commitment to fun, thrills and freedom on two wheels, crafted and distilled into one distinctive statement.

Hyosung GV650SE Special Limited 30th Anniversary Edition, 2009

Hyosung GV650SE Special Limited 30th Anniversary Edition, 2009

The best just got better!
Not content with having the fastest, lightest, sportiest and most stylish cruiser around. Hyosung decided to up the ante and improve its performance again, with an electronic fuel injected
version of their tried and tested 650cc engine having a full 10hp more than the carburettor version taking it to 80hp.
Celebrate Hyosung Motors 30th Anniversary and Hyosung Motors America's 3rd Anniversary.
In honor of the Anniversaries, Hyosung Motors has released a Special Limited Edition GV650 in its 2009 fuel-injected line.
These are available at Hyosung dealerships nationwide while supplies last. Try it today you won’t be sorry.
It’s been 30 years since Hyosung motorcycles was founded in South Korea and, to commemorate the milestone, a limited-edition version of the popular GV650 cruiser has been released for the 2008 model year.

The GV650 has always been one of Hyosung’s best-selling models, combining sporty cruising with ample power and an attractive price tag. The anniversary model still combines all those elements, but it’s in the finish where the disparity kicks in: the tubular frame and wheels on the limited-edition are red, and the rest of the machine is a deep and lustrous black.
“Most people probably think that Hyosung only started producing motorcycles, scooters and ATVs recently,” said Mark Fattore, the Marketing Manager at Hyosung Australia. “This model highlights that Hyosung has 30 years of motorcycle design and manufacturing experience in South Korea and is a serious international player in its own right.”
Hyosung motorcycles are manufactured at a massive industrial complex in Changwon City, which is located on the south-eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula. In 2007, Hyosung Motors and Machinery was acquired by the S&T Group – one of South Korea’s biggest corporations with a global turnover of more than $10 billion. The manufacturing company is now called S&T Motors.

Limited Edition GV650.
Limited edition of the GV650 featuring EFI, special gloss/matte black finish, Candy Red highlights, and it is embossed with "30 Anniversary xxx out of 1000". This model is limited to 200 bikes within the USA. The other 800 bikes are shipped to other countries so if you purchase one, you will have 1 of 1000 in the entire world, 1 of 200 in the USA.
This bike looks like a V-Rod but is 1/3 the price. Even at 1/3 the price, the bike has many high-end features like an 8 valve DOHC engine that revs to 10,500RPM while putting out 80HP. It is water cooled, has a large capacity fuel tank, adjustable foot pegs, dual front disk brakes and a two year warranty.
The bike employs a belt drive system which is 3 times better than the chain-type plus this belt drive is quieter and maintenance-free.

Husqvarna SM125, 2009

Husqvarna SM125, 2009

The SM 125 has become an icon for sixteen-year-olds, a sales phenomenon and a new fashion. It is the starting point for those who want to experience the thrills of off-roading but who also want a bike that is perfectly suited to everyday use. Easy to ride, light and manoeuvrable, the 2009 version of the SM 125 has everything it takes to become leader in its class.

The SM 125 is available in either red and white colour scheme or the more sophisticated black version. The white frame and black anodised wheel make the two-stroke look more like the bigger four-stroke version. The highly successful 125 engine has seen improvements “borrowed” from racing models and has been tuned to improve pick-up and offer more output in the low to mid range power band.

The SM 125 features integrated ECS (Electronic Carburetion System) that administers exactly the right amount of fuel (both the air/petrol and oil mix) and that was developed in collaboration with Dell’Orto. The control unit also governs the ignition system. While keeping costs under control and sales prices competitive, this brings the two-stroke 125 engine to Euro 3 standards yet keeps all the advantages that two-stroke engines offer: lightness, performance and low running costs.

As regards suspension, the SM 125 now has specially designed PaioIi forks to enhance the performance characteristics of the model and to compliment the shock absorber.

The new digital instrumentation displays speed, time, mileage, rpm and has a trip-meter as well as the normal warning lights (indicators, full beam, dipped beam, service due etc.).

Honda DN-01, 2009

Honda DN-01, 2009

Honda's stunning new DN-01 is in a class of its own—the world's first crossover bike. Styled like a sportbike, but offering Honda's radical new HFT Transmission, it's an automatic unlike anything you've ever seen. You can shift it into six preset ratios, or you can let it function as a stepless, no-shifting Constantly Variable Transmission, or CVT. The DN-01 is a perfect choice if you're looking to get into motorcycling or if you're just a long-time rider who wants to be on the most cutting-edge bike out there.

It's like no motorcycle you've ever seen. And it's definitely like no motorcycle you've ever ridden. The revolutionary Honda DN-01 is designed to create a nearly seamless connection between you and your riding environment, with a relaxed, low seating position and a clear view to the road ahead. Its Human Friendly Transmission (HFT) allows you to ride in fully automatic mode, or you can shift it like a manual transmission via handy handlebar-mounted push buttons. You can even rev the powerful V-twin engine at stoplights, something most automatic transmissions won't allow.

Honda's reputation for forging new categories in motorcycling takes its latest form in the radical DN-01. This futuristic machine combines true sporting performance with a fully-automatic transmission, a low seat height and exceptional style.

 Unique Features
- Powerful 4-valve, 680cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine.
- HFT transmission is a continuously variable, hydromechanical design that automatically and seamlessly changes drive ratios to produce strong, smooth acceleration. Unlike conventional belt-drive designs, HFT is compact, quiet, no scheduled maintenance, and features two automatic modes and a six-speed manual mode with push-button shifting.
- Low 27.2-inch seat height assures flat-footed confidence when stopped.
- Large-diameter 41mm front fork and single-shock Pro Arm® Rear Suspension (see Technology Section) provide a sporting ride on low-profile Z-rated radial tires.
- Combined ABS (LBS-ABS, see Technology Section) triple-disc brake system for sure-footed braking in varying conditions.
- Combined Braking System (CBS) provides excellent braking power for added confidence in a wide range of operating conditions. CBS applies front braking force whenever the rear brake is operated.
- On the DN-01, equipped with dual front disc brakes with three-piston calipers and a twin-piston rear caliper, rider application of the front-brake lever activates all six brake pistons in the front calipers. Application of the rear-brake pedal activates the dual pistons of the rear caliper and the center piston of the front-left caliper.
- Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS w/CBS) utilizes modulators- one each on the front and rear wheels- driven directly by specially developed electric motors. In operation, an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) monitors wheel and vehicle speed. If one of both of the wheels approach a locking condition, the modulators, via a signal from the ECU, lower hydraulic pressure by acting directly on the brake piston(s). As wheel speed re-approaches motorcycle speed, the hydraulic pressure is increased. This entire process is repeated numerous times in just one second, resulting in optimal braking pressure and enhanced rider control.
- Beautiful aerodynamic design provides protection from the elements.

Engine/Drivetrain
- Compact 680cc, liquid-cooled SOHC 52-degree V-Twin provides substantial torque and power for everyday commuting and spirited backroad riding.
- Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI, see Technology Section) with twin 40mm throttle bodies and high-performance 12-hole injectors provide excellent throttle response and fuel economy
while contributing to low emissions.
- Auto enrichment system is integrated into PGM-FI to optimize the air/fuel mixture on cold starts and eliminates the need for a choke.
- ECU-controlled, closed-loop emission control system with oxygen sensor manage the air/fuel mixture and reduce exhaust emissions.
- Front-mounted radiator receives ducted air from fairing shroud to maximize cooling.
- 2-into-1 stainless steel exhaust system with chrome-plated triangular shaped tailpipe is designed to centralize mass for improved handling.
- HFT offers two fully automatic, infinitely variable transmission modes - 'D' (Drive) mode for ordinary riding, and 'S' (Sport) mode for sharper acceleration. In addition, a push-button-selectable, six-speed manual mode allows the rider to upshift/downshift with the simple operation of left thumb-activated buttons.
- The ECU-controlled HFT automatically 'downshifts' when climbing steep grades to maintain optimum power.
- HFT provides 'lock-up' in cruising mode for maximum fuel economy.
- HFT features button-activated mechanical neutral, permitting engine revving when stopped. Mechanical neutral is automatically engaged whenever the engine is turned off, allowing easy maneuverability.

Chassis/Suspension
- Sturdy double-cradle steel tube frame provides exceptional strength and bolt-on seat rail simplifies servicing.
- Stout 41mm front fork with 4.2 inches of supple travel and progressive damping.
- Relaxed 28.5-degree rake and 4.5 inches of trail contribute to comfortable, stretched-out riding position and provide excellent straight-line handling.
- Single shock, Pro Arm Rear Suspension (see Technology Section).
- Combined ABS (LBS-ABS, see Technology Section) with two lightweight 296mm floating front rotors and a single 276mm rear rotor.
- Handsome, lightweight 17-inch 5-spoke cast aluminum wheels with Z-rated 130/70 ZR17 (front) and 190/50 ZR17 (rear) radial tires offer sport-touring traction and comfort in wet and dry riding conditions.

Additional Features
- The DN-01's sleek, aerodynamic bodywork is functional and beautiful.
- Low, polycarbonate windshield allows some air into the cockpit at lower speeds.
- Low 27.2-inch seat height with wide passenger seat provides all-day riding comfort and allows rider to put both feet down at stops or when parking motorcycle.
- Well-placed mirrors provide an excellent rear view.
- Spacious rider footboards enhance riding comfort without compromising cornering performance.
- Handy one-touch, cable-actuated parking brake.

Honda CBR1000RR ABS, 2009

Honda CBR1000RR ABS, 2009

The CBR1000RR with Combined Anti-Lock Braking, the most advanced (and first-ever) ABS system to find its way onto an open-class superbike.
The CBR1000RR is the lightest, most compact, and best performing motorcycle in its class, making it the standard against which all other literbikes are measured. And for 2009, it's available with Honda's high-tech electronically controlled Combined ABS for the ultimate in sport bike braking performance.

The New for 2009
- New lightweight turn signals.
- CBR1000RR ABS equipped with patented, electronically controlled Combined ABS, delivering the benefits of Combined Braking System (CBS) and the benefits of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). (see Technology Section).
- CBR1000RR ABS features higher output ACG with oil jet hole for improved cooling, higher capacity battery and distinctive silver seat rails.
- Exciting new colors: CBR1000RR - Repsol Edition, Pearl White / Light Silver Metallic, Black: CBR1000RR ABS - Red / Black

The Unique Features
- Dual Stage Fuel Injection System (PGM-DSFI) features two injectors per cylinder (see Technology Section).
- Idle-Air Control Valve (IACV) and Ignition Interrupt Control for idle stability and smoother on/off throttle response.
- Low-mount exhaust system design.
- Patented slipper clutch features cam mechanism to reduce clutch-lever pull.
- MotoGP-derived Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) (see Technology Section).
- 43mm Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) inverted front fork (see Technology Section).
- Exclusive, MotoGP-derived Unit Pro-Link® Rear Suspension (see Technology Section).
- Radial-mount front brake calipers combined with radial-actuated master cylinder.
- Centrally located fuel tank increases mass centralization for a more compact frame design.

The Engine/Drivetrain
- Compact, liquid-cooled DOHC 16-valve 999cc four-stroke inline four-cylinder engine features bore and stroke dimensions of 76mm x 55.1mm.
- Removable cylinder block with Nikasil-coated cylinders.
- Sixteen-valve cylinder head features 30.5mm intake and 24mm exhaust valves with a 12.3:1 compression ratio for efficient combustion and high horsepower.
- Larger titanium intake valves create a lighter valve train and feature double-spring design for optimum performance at high rpm.
- Intake ports use latest shot-peening technology that improves power and torque characteristics.
- Cam-pulser location between the middle cylinders allows a narrower cylinder head and frame.
- Direct shim-under-bucket valve actuation system ensures high-rpm durability and allows 16,000-mile valve maintenance intervals.
- Forged-aluminum thin-domed, high-strength pistons feature molybdenum coating for reduced friction.
- Lightweight nutless connecting rods.
- Iridium-tip spark plugs improve fuel combustion and performance.
- Dual Stage Fuel Injection (DSFI) (see Technology Section).
- 46mm throttle bodies feature Denso injectors with lightweight valving for faster reaction time and 12 holes per injector to optimize mixture atomization, combustion efficiency and power.
- Auto-enriching system is integrated into Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) module, eliminating the need for a manual choke.
- Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) minimizes torque reaction and smoothes response to small throttle changes through gradual reductions of air and fuel intake when the throttle is opened and closed.
- Ignition Interrupt Control system works with IACV and FI mapping to enhance driveability.
- Smaller and lighter ECU provides two 3-D fuel-injection maps for each cylinder and two 3-D ignition maps for cylinder pairs, creating ideal fuel mixture and spark-advance settings for superb rideability.
- MotoGP-derived twin-tunnel ram-air system allows a high volume of cooler air to the 9.7-liter airbox for linear power delivery and incredible engine performance.
- Butterfly valves inside the ram-air ducts open and close depending on throttle opening and engine rpm for optimum performance.
- Compact, low-mount exhaust system design reduces rear bodywork size and incorporates exhaust valve and catalyst, contributing to significantly improved mass centralization, and reducing roll and yaw inertia.
- High-capacity radiator incorporates twin cooling fans and allows a more compact cowl for reduced drag coefficient.
- Maintenance-free automatic cam-chain tensioner.
- Starter gears located on the right side to produce narrow engine that allows for increased lean angle.
- Patented slipper-clutch design uses a center cam-assist mechanism for easier actuation. Unlike an ordinary slipper clutch where the pressure plate moves from side to side, the Honda clutch moves both the center cam assist and the pressure plate to provide additional slipper effect.
- Nine-plate clutch is compact and tough, featuring durable friction plate material.
- Durable #530 O-ring-sealed drive chain.

The Chassis/Suspension
- Lightweight four-piece Fine Die-Cast twin-spar aluminum frame utilizes latest MotoGP technology (see Technology Section).

- Exclusive, MotoGP-derived Unit Pro-Link Rear Suspension (see Technology Section).
- Radial-mounted monoblock four-piston front calipers feature chromium-plated aluminum pistons and squeeze lightweight 320mm floating discs in front and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper for exceptional stopping power.
- CBR1000RR ABS features Honda's electronic Combined ABS. This all-new ECU-controlled, hydraulically actuated system provides accurate braking force distribution to both wheels. ABS is controlled by a hydroelectronic unit and stroke simulator to ensure precise operation. Benefits include consistent lever pressure without the pulsing often associated with ABS systems. Application of rear brake does not result in immediate front brake activation unless lock-up is sensed, allowing an experienced rider to use rear brake in a normal manner during spirited riding. Combined ABS components are smaller and lighter than conventional hydraulic ABS designs, and have been located nearer to the center of the machine, enhancing mass centralization and reducing unsprung weight.
- Super-light aluminum-alloy hollow-spoke wheels feature race-spec 3.5 x 17-inch front and 6.0 x 17-inch rear dimensions.
- Centrally mounted 4.7-gallon fuel tank is positioned low in the frame, increasing mass centralization and allowing a more compact design. This design positions the rider farther forward for optimum handling.
